Observation

Licensor observed a chid to have an epi-pen and medication authorization for a food allergy on site. Child's file lacked detailed Individual Plan of Care that included the details that the WAC requires. Licensor noted medication authorization to be signed by the parent, but not signed by the program staff verifying they reviewed it or have been trained on how to administer the medication. Additionally, the medication plan was submitted by the parent in September, but since then new staff have started working at the program, and they confirmed that they were not trained by the parent on the child's epi-pen medication administration or a specific Health Care Plan. Site staff did share with this licensor a list of which children have identified food allergies and/or food sensitivities, but they are not informed on the individual details that would be in an Individual Care Plan for those identified children with allergies for specific foods, their symptoms, and specific treatment plan in response to an unintentional exposure.
